Meetings and Practices


Fighter Practices

The Shire of Talmere's Heavy Fighter and Rapier Practices are held immediately outside of Pafford Hall, at the University of West Georgia. At the moment there are no Archery Practices Scheduled. Practices start promptly at 7 p.m. and continues until 9 p.m. There is outside lighting for after-dark practice. Whether you have armor, or none, experience, or none, please feel free to come out and watch or join in the fighting, as loaner armor is usually available. Fighter Practices are held every first, third, and the occassional fifth Tuesdays of the month. (Occassionally Fighter Practice is also held on the second Tuesday depending on the class schedule.) If you have any questions concerning weapons, armor, or rules, please feel free to contact the appropriate Marshall.

Arts and Sciences Activities

Arts and Sciences Activities are held in Room 208 of Pafford Hall, at the University of West Georgia. Activities usually get going around 7:15 p.m. Some of our activies include: Illuminating scrolls, Woodcarving, European and Middle Eastern Dancing, and Henna. Arts and Sciences Activities are generally held on the first, third, and the occassional fifth Tuesday of the month. If there are any specific activities that are scheduled, they will be placed on the Calendar, and more detailed information can be found on the A&S Page. For more information on Arts and Sciences activities please contact the Minister of Arts and Sciences, Lady Edila Emmadoghter.


Business Meetings

Our Business Meetings are also held in Room 208 of Pafford Hall, at the University of West Georgia. Business Meetings are held every fourth Tuesday of the month, at 7:15 p.m. If you have any new shire business or would like to take an active part in shire decision-making, please come and join us for our monthly business meetings. Please contact the Senechal THLady Catherine d'Evreux if you have any shire business that needs taking care of between business meetings.


Classes

Classes are also held in room 208 of Pafford Hall, at the University of West Georgia. Designated class night is the second Tuesday of the month. Our classes are taught by a variety of people on every SCA-dian subject imaginable. We have members from neighboring groups come in to teach, as well as members of our own shire. We have classes aimed at fighters and nonfighters. To find out specifically what class is being held any particular month please visit the A&S page. FROM ATLANTA:

Travel I-20 West to Villa Rica/UWG Exit 24 (Old exit 5) , turn left (West) onto Hwy 61. Travel approximately 12 miles to Carrollton South 166 By-Pass, turn left onto By-Pass 166 just past Ryans steak house and Richard Haney Ford. Once the By-Pass dead-ends at the 6th traffic light, turn right onto Maple Street (Hwy. 166) and UWG will be on the left approximately 6/10 of a mile.

FROM BIRMINGHAM:

Travel I-20 East to Bremen/UWG Exit 11 (Old exit 3), turn right (South) and follow Hwy. 27 South into Carrollton, turn right onto Maple Street (Hwy. 166). UWG will be on the right approximately 2 miles.

FROM ROME:

Travel Hwy. 27 South into Carrollton, turn right onto Maple Street (Hwy. 166) . UWG will be on the right approximately 2 miles.

FROM COLUMBUS:

Travel I-185 North to Newnan, take Hwy. Alt. 27 North to Carrollton. Turn left (South) onto By-Pass 166. Once By-Pass 166 dead-ends at 4th traffic light, turn right onto Maple Street (Hwy. 166) and UWG will be on the left approximately 6/10 of a mile.

The building surrounded by blue, in the top-right of the map is Pafford Hall. The parking lot surrounded by blue is the lot available for our parking. The parking lot is gated, but up, during the times of our meetings. The large open area between Pafford Hall and building number 24 is the area where fighter practice is held.
