Camping
Greetings all,
Ever get lost in the dark and set up your tent in the wrong place? Tired of fumbling with clearing out the twigs and setting up your pavilion without enough light to see by? Ever wish that one day you could show up at an event and have your tent already in place?
Well that day has finally come!
On behalf of the Cumberland Centre, home of next month's Border Raids, I am pleased to invite you to come by early to set up your encampment. That's right, if you have pre-reserved for Border Raids you can just drop by any weekend between now and then to pitch your tent, pavilion, or even your entire household's encampment. That way it will be in place and ready to move in for the event. Better yet, there's no charge!
Why are we doing this?
First, our Site Manager is also the Landcrat for Border Raids and we want to make her life easier during the event. Second, all the officers and directors of the Cumberland Centre are long-time SCA'ers and we all hate setting up camps in the dark. Lastly, our volunteers are working every weekend to make sure the site is in great shape for the event and they'd love to have a few extra hands during the work parties. (That's not a requirement for early setup but it would be appreciated.)
As they say in the commercials, "But wait: there's more!"
The Cumberland Centre has now officially decided to allow the placement of camp gateways and period style structures, like those at the Gulf Wars site. If you want to put something in place for Border Raids you certainly can, and now is the time to start!
For Border Raids related land or site questions please contact the Landcrat, THLady Zelina Marie Durrant de Narval (housedarktree@aol.com). For details about gateways and structures please email me (grove@cumberlandcentre.org).
Yours in service,
Sir Jean-Claude von Adlerstaat
m.k.a. Doug Grove, President of the Cumberland Centre
