Armoured Combat

Come One, Come All!

To Rodger “See More Blood” Fan Morvill’s

CIRCUS OF DEATH

There will be fighting for everyone, as much as you can handle.

Thrill, as we recreate the glories of Caesar and his armies’ triumphs.

See the Helvetii smashed by outnumbered Romans.

Watch as Ariovistus, King of the Germani, gets whupped by Caesar.

Be awed by the wonders of Roman Architecture in the crossing of the Rhine as the Romans build bridges while under hostile fire.

Run in terror while Vercingetorix unsuccessfully defends Alesia.

Bring your friends! Bring your Bread!

Combat Archery rules for Border Raids XXXIII

All Meridian rules for Combat Archery will be followed with the following exception:

Archers from the Middle Kingdom and Calontir will be allowed to use crossbows up to 1000-inch pounds with a pull restriction of 100 pounds maximum. Archers from all other Kingdoms must follow Meridian rules for Combat Archery. Meridian rules for Combat Archery can be found at: http://www.hawkshaven.com/sca/archery/carules1.html. Make sure you read the Meridian Updates for changes to the rules since the last Combat Archery Handbook.

All golf tube and siloflex arrows/bolts may be gleaned during combat. All shafted arrows/bolts must be re-inspected by the Marshals before they can be used again in combat.

Please pay attention to the battle scenarios for specific restrictions for Combat Archery.

Please remember that as of June 1, 2005 wooden shafts/bolts are no longer legal in Meridies. Meridies is now a fiberglass shaft/bolt only Kingdom. Also please double check your APDs. As they are the main reason shafted arrows/bolts fail at Inspection Point. Make sure that the APD is secure to your arrow/bolt and that the nock is no more than one half inch beyond the end of the APD.

Please contact the MIC for Combat Archery, Master Seamus Corrigan (seamus@charter.net), if you have any questions concerning Combat Archery at Border Raids.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hear ye, Lords, Knights, squires and noble men at arms. We make known to you a very great deed of arms to be done at the Cumber’s land in the Kingdom of Meridies. All those nobles of coat armour and bearing harness of fine steel are invited to come Saturday, the Twenty fifth day of June at the hour of noon to the field where the Border Raids are to be held. From that place the good men of the Company of St. Boniface will meet all those that would challenge them and a Tree shall be placed there upon which challenges can be made. There will also be a great show of Helms before the combat and a gallery will be set aside for the noble and gentle ladies where they will decide who among these men shall be the Knight, squire, or noble of honor for that day.
After all personal challenges are settled in honorable combat those parfait ladies of the gallery will be asked what deeds of arms they wish to see preformed and they shall direct which nobles will fight, in what manner, and with what weapons they will take into the field.
At the end of the combat the Company of St. Boniface will name which of the venans they believe to be the most puissant and the Ladies will name the noble they believe showed the most honor nobility and chivalry upon the field that day.
Written this twenty sixth day of may by the hand of Lord Brennus Barbatus CAS, Squire to Syr Wulfhere Mannteufel and acting as herald for the Company of St Boniface in this matter of Armes.
